Results – 2016 Sportheque Classic

The Sportheque Classic, held April 28 – May 1, attracted about 50 players, with some from Quebec City and Montreal, and with several women playing in both men’s and women’s events. In the Men’s Open, Maxime Blouin from Quebec City beat Sebastien Boucley of Montreal for the title. Tournament organiser Maxime Leclair beat Pranav Sharma of Montreal for 3rd place in another very entertaining match. In the Men’s “A”, Eric Leblanc capped off a strong tournament with a victory over Nicolas Dupont, who upset first seed Rudy Rodriguez in the semi-finals. On the Women’s side the Wren family dominated, with Chloe and mother, Helene, taking the “A” and “D” titles, respectively. Congratulations to all the winners and participants.

Results – 2016 Quebec Junior Provincial Championships

The Province of Quebec Junior Championships played at La Sportheque from April 15 to 17 attracted over 30 boys and 15 girls. Dominic Wren (Sportheque) was pushed to the limit by Tarun Balaraj (RA) in the Boys Under 17 in the morning, and then edged Tommy Scott of Montreal for the Boys Under 19 after lunch. Karim Michael of Montreal took both the Boys under 13 and 15 titles. One of the day’s best matches resulted in Catherine Giachino edging Chloe Wren for the Girls Under 19/17 crown. Congratulations to all of the winners and participants.

Congratulations to all division winners for the 2016 edition of the Adrian Dudzicki ODSA Cup. Special congratulations to Steve Wren who captured his 3rd ODSA Cup title (2006, 2011, 2016). Thanks to all of the participants and we look forward to having an even bigger event next year.

ODSA Cup Finals and ODSA Season Ending Social – April 27!

The 2016 edition of the Adrian Dudzicki ODSA Cup is coming to a close with the finals set to take place on Wed evening April 27th starting at 5:45 PM at the OAC. The finalists of each division are set to battle it out for bragging rights and the title of ODSA Cup champion. Here is the line-up for the evening:

  • Open Division – David Guest vs. Steve Wren
  • Division A – Michael Connolly vs. Alex Gloor
  • Division B – Stephane Dubytz vs. John Prindiville
  • Division C – Shaun Thorson vs. Miguel Levesque

Immediately following the finals is the ODSA Season Closing Awards and Social starting at 7:00 pm at Boston Pizza at the corner of Walkley and Conroy. See the previous post for all the details.

 

ODSA Juniors at the Ontario Junior Championships

A group of 9 Ottawa juniors plus some parents made the long trek to The Club at White Oaks at Niagara-on-the-Lake for the 2016 Ontario Junior Championships the weekend of April 1-3. Everyone reached at least the 1/4s of either the Main, Bronze, Consolation, or Classic event in their age group. Great showing everyone! Congratulations to all of the juniors who competed:
