Results – 2017 RA Winter Open

Over the weekend of January 27 to 29, 59 men and 13 women took part in the RA Centre’s  Winter Open tournament. Out-of-towners took the Men’s Open, A and C crowns. David Baillargeon (PSA #139), of the Club Sportif MAA defeated fellow Montrealer Pranav Sharma (PSA #405) 3-0 in the Open final. Mario Gagnon, from Quebec City won the A division over Nick Erdody (OAC) 3-1 . Home-clubber Andreas Straathof took the “B” in three close games over 16 year-old Thomas Porter of the OAC. In the C division, Antoine Duplessis of the Cote de Liesse club in Montreal, won 3-0 over Simon Tucker, with Pablo Morales, newly arrived in town from Chile, via Barcelona, taking 3rd spot. The D crown went to Alexander Ross(RA) after a tight 5-setter with club-mate Steven Wallace.
In the Women’s A/B, Allison Verney (Goodlife – Queensview) just edged Stephanie Bazin (RA) in total points in the round robin, despite losing her match with Stephanie. In the Womens C/D, Ella Ross (RA) continued her recent string of victories, with a 13-15,15-8,15-7,15-7 win over Luz Osorio of Carleton University
