At the Canadian Junior National Championships, held the weekend of April 21-23 at the Hollyburn Country Club in North Vancouver, Iman Shaheen of the Barrhaven Squash Club reached the final of the Canadian Girls’ Under 13 National Championship. In the final she lost in three straight to top-seeded Salma Mounir of the Ontario Racquet Club. Just turned 12 last month, Iman defeated second-seeded Maya Mansoor, of Toronto’s Executive Squash & Fitness Club, 11-7, 12-10, 7-11, 8-11, 11-8 in the semi-final. Congratulations, Iman, on a great achievement.
In other events, Dominic Wren, of La Sportheque, reached the quarterfinals of the BU 19 Main , and the semi-finals of the Consolation events. In the GU 19 event, Gabrielle Renaud, OAC, had the misfortune to meet Hannah Blatt, of Winnipeg, in the first round, who went on to take 3rd place, and then faced Rhea Dhar, of Toronto, who went on to win the Consolation event.
