Maxym Leclair

Maxym Leclair – Director and Head Coach, Squash Outaouais

Born in Gatineau, Quebec in 1989. Started playing at age 5 but not seriously until aged 13. Coached by Steve Wren at Club Sportheque from 2002 to 2006, and then by Yvon Provencal in Montreal from 2007 to 2014. Played on the Professional Squash Association (PSA) circuit from 2008 to 2012. Assistant pro at Midtown Sanctuaire in Montreal from 2007 to 2014. Since January 2015, he has been a Director and Head Coach at Squash Outaouais, a non profit organisation that promotes squash in the Gatineau-Ottawa area.

Accomplishments

  • Won Quebec Boys Under 17 title in 2005
  • Won Quebec Boys Under 19 title in 2008
  • Member of Quebec Junior team which came 4th at Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse in 2007
  • Member of Quebec team which won Canadian Men’s Team Championship in Moncton in 2011
  • Reached highest ranking of #130 on the PSA tour in 2011, and in same year won a PSA event in Quebec City, beating Adrian Dudzicki of Ottawa in the final
  • Organiser of PSA events – Midtown Sanctuaire Open (2009) and National Bank Financial Open (2010)
  • Elected a Director of Squash Quebec in 2015
  • Province of Quebec Junior Coach since 2016
  • Contributed to the creation of University of Ottawa squash team in 2016
