Iman Shaheen Makes Canadian Team for World Juniors
Congratulations to Ottawa’s 18 year-old Iman Shaheen on being selected for the Canadian team going to the World Junior Team and Individual Championships in Melbourne, Australia, next month (18-29 July).
U of Ottawa Squash Team Gains Official Status
Good squash news. The University of Ottawa has made squash an official
varsity sport. U Ottawa has long had a squash club but it did not have official university
backing akin to lacrosse, soccer, volleyball and other teams. This year, however, U
Ottawa has made squash a competitive team, Gee-Gees Squash Club, on par with
other traditional varsity sports.

Ron Hughes (1936 – 2021)
On August 25, the Ottawa squash world lost one of its finest coaches and organizers. Ron Hughes grew up in Calgary, graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago, and became a PE teacher in his hometown. Ottawa Squash Leader, Ian Milne, Passes On
Ian Milne was one of Ottawa’s most accomplished squash promoters and planners during the heyday of our game in the 1970s and 1980s.
