Results – 2018 Oktober Squash Fest

The Sportheque Oktober Squash Fest took place October 21-23, and attracted 54 competitors, with a sizeable contingent from Montreal. In the Open event, Maxym Leclair won the 4 player round robin, losing only one game in his three matches. Fernando Hernandez placed 2nd by avenging his defeat by David Guest, in September’s ODSA Rust Remover event, in a thrilling 5 setter, prolonged by David’s 12-10 win of the 3rd game.

The Men’s “A” title was won by Nicolas Dupont in three straight over Martin Aass, while fast improving 15 year old Max Shewchenko mixed bullet shots, with a well varied slower game, to overcome Vincent Ferlat of Montreal in the Men’s “B”.

Danny Breault lost only one game in winning the Men’s “C”, in a round robin field of 5, beating Marc Brassard 3-0 in the playoff for 1st. In the Men’s “D”, Steve Wallace won 3-1 over Ella Ross, who also placed 3rd in the Women’s “C”.

In the Women’s “A”, 13 year old Iman Shaheen lost a miserly 44 points in 3 matches, while beating Lea Provencal in the final, and displaying the benefits gained from her already substantial provincial, national, and international experiences. Dominique Smith won the Women’s “C”, in a round robin field of 9, beating Luz Osorio 3-0 in the playoff for 1st.
