In the 24 hours between 6 p.m. on Friday, May 31 and Saturday June 1, 2019, eight teams ( each consisting of one Under 19, one Adult, and one 50+ player) completed 36 matches at the Bob McQuarrie Recreation Centre in Orleans, hosted by Squash Gloucester and Ralph Shillington.
The winning team, “We Le Quebec”, consisted of Maxym Leclair,(Adult), Mario Cerilli (50+), and Benoit Salmon (U19), who beat “The Franclos” Denis Theriault (Adult),Mikola Czich (50+), and Romain Salmon (U19) by 2 matches to 1, in a hard fought and thoroughly entertaining final, in which 15 year-old Romain forced Max to play his best to win 11-6,11-5,11-8.
The format of this tournament, played in a very convivial spirit, resulted in some interesting interage matchups, with the Adults winning 15 matches, 50+ (12) and U19 (9). Congratulations to the following, who won all three of their matches (Maxym Leclair, Denis Theriault, and Dominic Wren as Adults, Clark Johnston and Rob Walsh as 50+s and Benoit Salmon as an U19).
